Members of 'C' Force from the East travelled across Canada by CNR troop train, picking up reinforcements enroute. Stops included Valcartier, Montreal, Ottawa, Armstrong ON, Capreol ON, Winnipeg, Melville SK, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper, and Vancouver, arriving in Vancouver on Oct 27 at 0800 hrs.
The Winnipeg Grenadiers and the local soldiers that were with Brigade Headquarters from Winnipeg to BC travelled on a CPR train to Vancouver.
All members embarked from Vancouver on the ships AWATEA and PRINCE ROBERT. AWATEA was a New Zealand Liner and the PRINCE ROBERT was a converted cruiser. "C" Company of the Rifles was assigned to the PRINCE ROBERT, everyone else boarded the AWATEA. The ships sailed from Vancouver on Oct 27th and arrived in Hong Kong on November 16th, having made brief stops enroute at Honolulu and Manila.
Equipment earmarked for 'C' Force use was loaded on the ship DON JOSE, but would never reach Hong Kong as it was rerouted to Manila when hostilities commenced.
On arrival, all troops were quartered at Nanking Barracks, Sham Shui Po Camp, in Kowloon.

Arley Enright, 76, of Moncton, NB passed away at The Moncton Hospital on June 30th, 1998 after a sudden illness. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, he was the son of the late Asa and Delia [Campbell] Enright. Arley worked for the C.N. for 29 years, starting as an express clerk in Gaspe, PQ and retiring as Regional Superintendent of Express Services for the Atlantic Region. A WWII Veteran, he was a Lance Corporal in the Royal Rifles of Canada and a prisoner of war in Japan from 1941 to 1945. He was a carpenter, an avid golfer and an expert in golf club repair and finishing. Active in community affairs, he was presently treasurer of the Magnetic Hill Golf and Country Club, Men's Division, former president of Big Brothers and Sisters, and involved over the years with the United Way. He attended Highfield United Church. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Shirley(Barter); three sons, Kelly (Elsie) of Miramichi, NB, Lance (Susan) of Lower Sackville, NS, Bill (Judy) of Windsor, NS: one daughter, Arlene (Glenn) Steeves of Moncton NS; grandchilden, Harris, Kyle, Jody. Jamie, Sean, Kristin, Jonathan, Thomas. Andrew, Patrick; great grandson, Cailum; brother Bill MacWhirter; sister Violet Brake, and and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Keith and Gilbert. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home [852-3530], 1177 Salisbury Rd. Moncton NB, Thursday, July 2, 1998 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held from Fair Haven Funeral Home Friday, July 3, 1998 at 1 p.im Interment to follow at the Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Following the service, the family invite you to join them for a time of fellowship and refreshments in the family reception center of the Fair Haven Funeral Home. By family request, family flowers only. Donations may be made to the lupus Society of NB., Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the memorial of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
