Quentin Mulrooney at Valcartier.
George Porteous (1903-1978), M.B.E., served with the Winnipeg Grenadiers, was a Hong Kong POW from 1941 to 1945 and ultimately became Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan (1976-1978).

The picture appeared as the frontispiece of The Canadian Y.M.C.A. in World War II by Alan M. Hurst, published by the National War Services Committee of the National Council of Young Men's Christian Associations of Canada (year of publication not indicated, probably 1948 or 1949).

From Vince Lopata: I believe that two soldiers are Private Herbert Henry Mabb and Private Reginald Foxall. Both served in Bermuda and Jamaica before they went to Hong Kong. Based on their dates of their death, both died as prisoners of war.
