The HKVCA Cross Canada Writing Competition is designed to provide students with an opportunity to show creativity while demonstrating an understanding of the effect the WWII years had on our veterans.
For many years, we have seen how both teachers and students have benefited from the opportunity to research specific Hong Kong veterans and their stories. Typically, this writing competition is presented to students as a way to earn extra credit, and is distributed upon the conclusion of one or two lessons completed in the classroom. However, a student may enter the competition even if the Battle of Hong Kong was not formally presented in the classroom.
