Suddenly at his residence on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in his 87th year. John, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Betty). Loving father of Dale Slater, Gary and his wife Connie, and Edward and his wife Joelle. Proud grandfather of Jeffrey and Kevin Slater, Lauren and Hailey Stroud, and Sterling Stroud. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A private family service at Spring Creek Cemetery, 1390 Clarkson Road North, Mississauga, Ontario, will be conducted on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Dewi Sant Welsh United Church, 33 Melrose Avenue, Toronto, Ontario at 12:30 p.m. with a reception to follow.
