John's full life came to an end a month before his 89th birthday at noon
on April 7, 2012.
John served in WWII with the Winnipeg Grenadiers, spending the majority of the war interned in Hong Kong. When he returned to Canada, he re-joined normal life and built a long successful career in business. John was friendly and outgoing, and was always willing to listen and offer encouragement, whether it was to an employee, a friend, or a family member.
He is missed by his wife of 63 years, Florence, sons Tim (Connie), Jeff (Terry), and Mike (Mel), daughter Marilyn Robb (Gord), niece Ruth Benner (Wayne), former daughter-in- law Wendy McGee, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the staff and students on 3 West and 4 West at the Misericordia Hospital for the expert and compassionate care given to John in his final days.
Family and friends are welcome to come to an open house celebrating
John's life on Saturday, April 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the
family home. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Royal
Canadian Legion Poppy Fund at 10720 – 101 Street, Edmonton, AB T5H 2S3
