JACQUARD,
Gilbert Reuben – 91, Little River Harbour, Yarmouth County, passed away
on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born
September 9, 1919 in Comeau’s Hill, he was a son of the late Reuben and
Tracy (LeFave) Jacquard. Gilbert worked as a lobster fisherman, and he
was a veteran of the second World War, having been taken as a prisoner
of war in Hong Kong for more than three years. He was a member of the
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 155, Wedgeport. He is survived by a
sister, Dora Harris, Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, as well as by six
nieces and two nephews. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by
his wife, Emilia G. (Surette) Jacquard, as well as by brothers, Francis,
Henry and Gerald, all in childhood, as well as Willie Jacquard; sisters,
Rose-Emma Jacquard, Marion Jacquard and Vena Henderson. Visitation took
place from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday, with Royal Canadian Legion Service at
7:30 p.m., followed by prayers at 8 p.m., all in H. M. Huskilson’s
Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held on
Saturday, February 26 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church,
Comeau’s Hill, Father Wieslaw Papuga and Msgr. Gerald LeBlanc
officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial
