Henry
Lyons Jr., WWII Veteran, Royal Rifles of Canada, Hong Kong POW, died
peacefully just shy of his 90th birthday and 70th wedding anniversary.
Henry was known as a great storyteller and had many passions. He loved
the river and was a renowned fishing guide on the Matapedia. Henry loved
the 5 C’s – children, cars, cards, Canadians (Mtl.) and chocolates. He
enjoyed “discussing” politics and having family and friends around him
but his greatest passion and love was for Isabel who he always referred
to as “the sweetest girl in the world”.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel, 3 sons, Vimy (Vera), Vaughn
(Elizabeth), Conrad (Annette), 3 daughters, Eleanor (Bernie) Mahoney,
Heather (Bob) Gauvin, Debrah (Rick) Watling, a brother, Lance, 13
grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and
many nieces and nephews.
Henry was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Lou (Haley), his son,
Kenneth, his brothers, Jack, Norman (Helena), Merle (Joan) and his
sister, Wanda (Russell) Irvine.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit,
Campbellton Regional Hospital, for their excellent care and kindness.
Visitation at Maher’s Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne Street Campbellton on
Friday January 22nd from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Funeral service will
be held at Maher’s Funeral Chapel, 64 Lansdowne Street Campbellton on
Saturday January 23rd at 11am.
Donations to Friends of Healthcare Foundation, Palliative Care Unit,
Campbellton Regional Hospital, or any charity of your choice, would be
appreciated.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home,
Campbellton.
