Shaw Montreal Daily Star, Wed, Sept 19, 1945 Caption: Six Province of Quebec members of the Royal Rifles of Canada, still clad in United States Army uniforms which replaced their prison camp rags, arrive in Vancouver from San Francisco to which they were flown across the Pacific from Japan. They formed part of the group of 15 Canadians which left their infamous prison camps at Nigata and Sendai on Sept. 7th and 8th and made their way to U.S. Army Headquarters in Yokohama. On their arrival in Vancouver enroute to their homes their American uniforms were exchanged for Canadian battle dress replete with regimental flashes, medal ribbons and service stripes.
