Modifying the Presentation

The HKVCA, with financial support from Veterans Affairs Canada, has produced a CD-ROM which allows members, teachers and others to present the Battle of Hong Kong story to a variety of audiences. This forum is the place for questions and answers, plus new information.

Modifying the Presentation

It’s not necessary to have PowerPoint installed on the computer you use for the presentation as long as you plan to use it without any modification. The CD is equipped with its own PowerPoint viewer.

However, if you would like to make any changes to the presentation you will need a computer with PowerPoint installed to do so. It must be PowerPoint 2003 or later.

If you want to modify the presentation, create a directory on your computer. Assuming that you want to work with the English version, copy all of the files from the CD directory “Pres-E” to the new directory (“Pres-F” for the French version). Note that the “Battle of Hong Kong.ppt” file and all of the .mpg, .wmv and .wav files must be in the same directory. Now delete any files that do not have these suffixes:

.ppt
.wav
.mpg
.wmv

Start PowerPoint, and from the new directory open the file Battle of Hong Kong.ppt . You can now modify the presentation as you wish.
