Can You Identify These Soldiers

Postby Jim Trick » Mon Dec 12, 2011 8:31 pm

This email was received, asking for assistance:

The photo below is of two soldiers of the Winnipeg Grenadiers, taken while the Grenadiers were in Jamaica, 1940 to 1941. They became friends of members of my family, and the photo survived in a family album. The soldier on the left was called Reg, and the one on the right was Herb. I don’t know their full names, and any family members who would have known are now dead. Both soldiers died in Hong Kong – either in battle,or as POWs.
Can you post this photo? Hopefully, some one may recognize them. I would love to know who they were.

If you can help, just reply to this topic.

From Vince Lopata:
From this information, I believe that two soldiers are Private Herbert Henry Mabb and Private Reginald Foxall. Both served in Bermuda and Jamaica before they went to Hong Kong. Based on their dates of their death, both died as prisoners of war.

Requester agreed with these findings.
